Tony Gill is the Global Director of Library Science and Information Management for AdPeople Worldwide, an advertising agency in the WPP Group. He is responsible for defining and implementing a global digital asset management strategy, leading a team of digital asset librarians, and managing the digital marketing assets for a Fortune 500 client distributed across a global network of DAM servers.

Tony has extensive experience in the development of collaborative, standards-driven solutions for the creation, management and delivery of digital information. Before joining AdPeople, he was the founding Director of the Gruss Lipper Digital Laboratory at the Center for Jewish History (, Director of Metadata and Cataloguing for ARTstor at the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in New York, and Program Officer for the Research Libraries Group in Mountain View, California.

He is the author of a number of publications on the applications of information technology in the cultural heritage sector, including ‘The MDA Guide to Computers in Museums’, ‘Metadata and the Web’ and ‘3-D Culture on the Web’. He is also a co-author of the CIDOC Conceptual Reference Model, now published as ISO Standard 21127:2006, and is a charter board member of the DAM Foundation.
